The music program at Lane Cove Public School aims to inspire, challenge and nurture musical creativity.
We aim to develop children's knowledge, practical skills, understanding and appreciation of music, through group and individual tuition. We believe music is fundamental to the development of a child’s wellbeing. We encourage the involvement of families in support of the music programme.

Uniform
Training band, concert band, senior concert band, jazz band and orchestra all wear the Lane Cove Public School music uniform, especially when performing outside of the school. Children will need to have their uniform by the beginning of Term 2.
Uniform requirements include:
- long black pants
- black socks and closed black shoes (school shoes are fine)
- summer: white short-sleeved Lane Cove Public School polo shirt
- winter: white long-sleeved Lane Cove Public School polo shirt (no short-sleeved polo shirts or peter pan collar blouses)
- black hair ribbons/elastics/hair bands for the girls
- black music vests (will be supplied).
Note: Shirts must be worn tucked in. Black pants must be plain black, with no writing or stripes. Good black jeans or dance pants are acceptable provided they are long pants and have wide legs (not leggings). White long-sleeved polo shirts are part of the winter school uniform. If your child does not have one, they can be purchased new or second hand from the uniform shop.
The music committee place one order for black music pants at the beginning of the year, order forms will arrive through your band/group parent. If your child has outgrown their black pants or long-sleeved white polo please feel free to donate them to the uniform shop for resale to new music students. It would be good to have these before they have to place their orders!
Music vests
Music Vests will be handed out by our band or orchestra parent as required for performances. Any queries regarding uniforms should be forwarded to the Uniform Officer.
