Murnong Yam Daisy
Scientific name: Microseris Lanceolata
Appearance
● The flowers look like common yellow daisies.
● They can grow up to 30 centimetres tall.
Uses
● It can be prepared warm with butter, included in salads, or mixed with other veggies.
● The roots can be eaten raw or baked.
Location and climate
● In the wild they don’t need a lot of water and they can tolerate in the shade
● It grows in the ACT, Victoria, and NSW
Interesting facts
● They taste sweet and coconutty.
● It was the main staple food of the Wurundjeri Aboriginal people.
● Introduction of sheep in the mid-1840s makes it rare to find in the wild.
