Netball club

The Lane Cove Public School netball club was formed in 1987 with 4 senior teams. The first juniors joined the club in February the following year, forming 6 teams.

The club is affiliated with the Northern Suburbs Netball Association (NSNA) and now fields NetSetGo, junior and senior teams in their weekend competitions.

Players turning 10 and above in the current year are graded into appropriate teams. Those turning 7, 8 or 9 are placed into teams with regard to age, school year and friendships, and play a modified version of the game, called NetSetGo.

Children turning 5 and 6 can join NetSetGo Skills, a program developed by Netball Australia and encouraged by NSNA to develop the basic motor skills in a fun environment of games and activities.

Netball is a terrific introduction to the competitive sport and a great game to participate in right through into adulthood. Enjoy the game that is played by more women around the world than any other sport.

The NetSetGo program

Lane Cove Public School's netball club runs the NetSetGo program, which is Netball Australia's junior netball program. The program runs in Term 4 and is for girls turning 5 or 6 in the year of participation. The program has been designed to complement the existing netball infrastructure by providing community groups such as associations, clubs and schools with quality resources and equipment to deliver an age and skill appropriate netball program.

It has been developed to provide children with the best possible learning and playing experience to develop a positive introduction to netball, ensuring enjoyment and continued participation in the sport. NetSetGo incorporates skill activities, minor games and modified matches in a fun and safe environment.

In order for the program to run it is essential to have volunteers to assist in coaching the girls. Unfortunately, if we do not get sufficient volunteers we will have to limit numbers or will not be able to run the program at all. If you are able to help or know of someone who could help or have any questions please email lcpsnetball@gmail.com.
