NAIDOC Week at LCPS

NAIDOC Week at LCPS

This week we are celebrating NAIDOC Week. This is usually celebrated in July but due to the pandemic the National NAIDOC Committee (NNC) decided to postpone the celebrations to this week. NAIDOC Week celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The theme for 2020 is Always Was, Always Will Be which recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

Students and teachers across the school are taking part in varied learning activities to celebrate and acknowledge NAIDOC Week. One such activity is learning some words and phrases in Gathang language and Anewan language. We are so lucky to have Balun and Elaina at our school who have created a video to share some of their language and teach the students and staff. Thank you to Balun and Elaina.

My thanks to Ms Myors, Ms Goodman and Ms Anderson for their work in organising the activities for NAIDOC Week.
