The motto for book week is 'Curious Creatures - Wild Minds'.
This year, book week will be a little bit different at Lane Cove. However, we are still determined to celebrate the wonderful world of books in any way we can. Students will be immersed in quality literature throughout the week during class and will also have the opportunity to participate in a dress-up parade and an author talk. Below are three key events that will be taking place at LCPS during the week.
Book Week Parade
On Tuesday 27th Oct, students may come dressed as their favourite book character. Unfortunately, we are unable to have our traditional book week parade at The Plaza. Instead, we will be sharing our costumes with each other in grade parades. As the parade is taking place in school, parents will not be able to attend.
Author Talk
On Tuesday 27th & Wednesday 28th students will participate in an author talk with Lucas Proudfoot. Lucas Proudfoot is a Bundjalung/ South Sea Islander man who has a background in professional surfing, cultural dance and is an award winning cultural songwriter and musician. He has been an Australian Indigenous Education ambassador and is currently a role model for Books in Homes Australia. Lucas is the author of The Proud Foots adventure series.
Virtual Book Fair
The Burns Bay Bookery is setting up a special link just for LCPS during book week, where parents will have the opportunity to purchase a book or donate to the library. Go to: burnsbaybookery.com.au/shop
